98 Percent Of Kaltara Residents Are Recovered By The JKN Program

TANJUNG SELOR - Provincial Government (Pemprov) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) managed to win the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) title for its achievement of registering 98 percent of Kaltara's population in the National Health Insurance Program (JKN).

This award was given to the Governor of Kaltara Zainal Arifin Paliwang who was represented by the Head of the Usman Health Service (Dinkes) during the 2024 UHC Awards at Green Terrace, TMII, East Jakarta on Thursday (8/8).

"For Kaltara itself, it has been 7 years above 95 percent. By 2023, we have 98 percent of the total population, so we can get UHC from BPJS," said Usman, Monday, August 12.

Usman revealed that the Provincial Government has tried to cover the ownership of BPJS or KIS through the Health Insurance Contribution Assistance Program (PBI JK) which is budgeted for by APBD.

"People who are not covered can go through PBIJK, we provide financing through the APBD, so we budget every year so that UHC coverage remains sustainable," he said.

On the other hand, Usman said, his party is also trying to reach public health services to remote areas. Through this program, he hopes that health services can be felt by the community optimally.

"Regarding public health, then health services, we also intensify how to reach remote communities related to flying doctor services that are the productivity of our activities, then related to our efforts to reduce maternal mortality, infant mortality and stunting," he said.

To note, the achievement of UHC in various regions is a form of implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2022 concerning Optimization of the National Health Insurance Program (JKN).

As for nationally, the number of JKN participants as of August 1, 2024 has reached 276,520,647 people, or 98.15 percent of the total population in Indonesia.
