The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Officially Stopped The Surya Darmadi Case Regarding The Transfer Of Forest Functions Because There Is Not Enough Evidence

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) issued a warrant to terminate the investigation (SP3) of the bribery case for forest conversion in Riau Province that dragged the boss of PT Duta Palma, Surya Darmadi.

This case was previously processed based on the Investigation Order Number Sprin.Dik/28/DIK.00/01/03/2019 dated 2019. The notification for the termination has been sent to Surya Darmadi's attorney.

"That's right (the investigation has been stopped, ed)," said Surya Darmadi's attorney, Maqdir Ismail when confirmed by VOI, Monday, August 12 night

The notification letter for the termination of this investigation was sent on June 20, 2024 with Number B/360/DIK.00/23/06/2024. There is the signature of Asep Guntur Rahayu who is the Director of KPK Investigation.

"It is hereby notified that on Friday, June 14, 2024, an investigation was terminated on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence of alleged corruption as referred to in Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 5 paragraph (1) letter b or Article 13 of the Anti-Corruption Law," the letter said.

When confirmed, KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika confirmed that her agency had issued SP3 in this case. However, he did not elaborate further regarding the termination step.

"It's true (it's been published, ed)," he said when contacted.

For information, Surya Darmadi became a suspect in 2019 when the KPK developed a case that ensnared former Riau Governor Anas Maamun who was caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT) in September 2019. He was charged with the Manurung Gold Medal Wrest as Chair of the Association of Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers (Apkasindo) Riau Province.

Surya was named a suspect along with Suheri Terta, who is a Legal Manager of PT Duta Palma Group in 2019. In addition, his company was also named a corporate suspect.

In this case, Surya allegedly offered Rp8 billion through Wrestling. Provided, the company is included in the revision of the Minister of Forestry's Decree on Changes to the Designation of Forest Areas, Not Regions that were eventually approved.

Furthermore, Surya disappeared and was included in the wanted list (DPO). Until finally he was picked up by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) on Monday, August 15, 2022.

The arrest was made because he was named a suspect with a fantastic value of up to Rp. 78 trillion by the Adhyaksa Corps.
