Provision Of Contraceptive Devices For Teenagers To Make Free Sex Increasingly

JAKARTA - The Daily Chair of the Semarang City Healthy City Forum (FKS), Dyah Ratna Harimurti, assesses that the provision of contraceptives for students and adolescents regulated in Government Regulation Number 28/2024 can actually make free sex behavior rampant.

"With regard to the ratification of PP 28/2024, the provision of contraceptives for students and school-age children certainly causes unrest for many student parents," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, August 11.

He admitted that he received many questions from the public, especially parents who have teenagers who are worried about the regulation.

"The sale of condoms at minimarkets (markets) is quite disturbing. Moreover, contraception is provided at school," he said.

According to him, so far the government has tried to reduce the number of people with HIV/AIDS, by conducting a lot of socialization, one of which is the free anti-sex campaign.

However, he said, the emergence of the PP which had just been ratified by President Joko Widodo was surprising and disturbing to the public, especially among students' parents.

"By legalizing it like that (providing contraceptives, ed.), it means normalizing and allowing underage children to have free sex, as long as they are not pregnant. That's what implies," said the figure who is familiarly called Detty.

He reminded that free sex behavior is not in accordance with eastern ethics and is not Indonesian culture, so the existence of PP which regulates the provision of contraceptives for students in schools is clearly not appropriate.

"Isn't there Law Number 16/2019 concerning Marriage that marriage is 19 years old? Free sex certainly cannot be normalized in Indonesia because it is not in accordance with our culture," he said.

In addition, he considered, the regulation seemed to imply simplifying the problem of only pregnant teenagers so that it could be prevented from getting pregnant with contraceptives.

"So, don't think about children's behavior,'mindset' (paper thinking) children after the PP. How do they live a long future after such freedom," said Detty, who is also a member of Commission D of the Semarang City DPRD.

In fact, he said, behavior and mindset are very important for character formation which will later affect the ability to achieve the future.

"It should be noted that free sex can also make you addicted. In fact, it is more than drug addiction. I am afraid that this sex addiction can damage the'mindset' and mentality of children and adolescents," he said.

There are still many ways to suppress early pregnancy and anything to worry about teenagers or pregnant students, he said, but not by legalizing the use of contraceptives among students or teenagers.

"We believe there are still many ways to suppress the problem of pregnant teenagers, but of course not by providing, preparing, legalizing contraception at school," he said.
