PKB Congress Schedule Changes, PBNU Secretary General Calls Party Elite Inconsistent

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul believes that the schedule for the National Awakening Party Congress shows inconsistency and mismanagement within the party's elite.

"I find it difficult to imagine that there is a decision, or let's say I don't understand that there are decisions that change by a handful of PKB elites," said Gus Ipul in a statement received by Antara in Jakarta, Sunday.

Gus Ipul explained that initially PKB decided on a congress at the end of the year through a national work meeting (mukernas), but suddenly the congress was decided to be held on August 24, 2024 in Bali.

He assessed that the sudden change in the schedule of the PKB Congress was considered odd and seemed to be covered up. Therefore, he invited PKB cadres on the regional and branch leadership councils (DPW-DPC) to be able to think rationally, objectively, and be able to see the future.

In addition, Gus Ipul invited the cadres to be able to correct habits that were considered not good.

"We want the DPW and DPC PKB to be able to take a stand to improve the PKB in the future, and return to the lap of Nahdlatul Ulama like the initial spirit of his establishment from NU for the nation. That's PKB," said Gus Ipul.
