A 15-year-old Teenager Lost His Right Leg Due To Shark Attack In Honduras Bay

JAKARTA - An American teenager lost one leg due to a shark attack while on vacation in Central America.

Sofia Carlson, who is fifteen years old, is diving with theorem Dive Pro company near the Halfmoon Caye in Honduras Bay.

As reported by ABC News, Coast Guardruly said the incident occurred on Tuesday morning while carrying out an expedition to Lighthouse Reef, about 50 miles southeast ofTEN City.

"His right leg was bitten by a shark," said Admiral Elton Bennett of the Coast Guard.

"So he lost his right leg," he added.

Carlson was rescued from the waters taken to the Coast Guard base. Carlson was then flown to a local hospital.

"He is stable and is currently recovering," Bennett told ABC News.

Local officials say shark attacks in Coastal waters are unusual.

"I want to emphasize that this is something very rare," said Blue Economy Minister Cara Andre Perez.
