JAKARTA - Former KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo reminded the Selection Committee (Pansel) for Candidates for the leadership and Supervisory Board of the KPK not to give red carpets to certain candidates. The results of interviews to input from the public must be a concern.

This was conveyed by Agus in the discussion event 'Maintaining the 2024 KPK Pansel Work: Strengthening or Weakening the Eradication of Corruption', Friday, August 9.

"Don't give carpets to certain people or individuals on the red carpet, but everything must be based on the results of the interview on the search results of the treck record and then input from the public," Agus said in the online program.

Public input, continued Agus, must be considered. Do not let the KPK leadership experience in 2019 and then repeat itself.

"The incident in question was when he and the leaders wrote to the Pansel and even President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to reject certain figures. (But, ed) the input was not heeded at all," he said.

In addition, the Pansel was also asked to pick up the ball to see the track records of the candidates. They can't stand by waiting or even just looking at the internet.

"Searching track records is very important not only from Wikipedia," he said.

"If necessary, the place where he has worked is very important for us to know the track records of each candidate," continued Agus.

As previously reported, the written test for KPK leadership candidates was attended by 230 participants. Of these, 40 of them passed.

Regarding this result, the anti-corruption commission hopes that the Pansel Capim and the KPK Council can work professionally and independently. There should be no intervention from anyone.

"We believe the Pansel has carried out the selection process professionally, yes, and well. And we also hope that the process will be without intervention from any party and we believe that this is what the Pansel has done," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 8.

Tessa emphasized that many hope that the selection committee will work to choose the best figure as the leader and supervisory board. Thus, the eradication of corruption in the future will be maximized.

"I think all KPK personnel also hope that later the best Capim and council will be elected," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.
