Unable To Get Coalition Partners To Promote Anies-Sohibul, PKS Discusses Option To Join KIM And Support Ridwan Kamil

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) will discuss options to join the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) and support Ridwan Kamil as a candidate for governor of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada DKI. The reason is, until now PKS has not yet obtained a coalition partner in order to carry the Anies Baswedan-Sohibul Iman pair forward in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. Although PKB and NasDem have provided support to the former governor of DKI Jakarta. "As the winning party in Jakarta, the PKS DPP has decided that its cadres must participate in the contestation of the Jakarta elections either as Cagub or Cawagub. Our priority at this time is to ensure that the SAFE pair sail, and we really hope that Mas Anies as a candidate can meet the shortage of the 4 seats. PKS also continues to build communication with NasDem and PKB, in order to ensure that the pair is safe to sail," said PKS spokesman M Kholid to reporters, Thursday, August 8.

However, continued Kholid, because the August 4 deadline had been passed, PKS began to open communication with all parties so that there was certainty that PKS could participate in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

"One of the communication options is to build political communication with KIM where RK is their current definitive candidate. This option is being studied and discussed by the PKS DPP," said Kholid. Kholid explained, actually the deadline for Anies to seek additional support is 40 days, namely since June 25 the declaration of the AMAN pair. According to PKS, this time is enough for Anies to work together to make this SAFE ticket sail.

"Mas Anies has been given a red carpet by obtaining 18 PKS seats. Even PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu came down the mountain looking for coalition partners for Mas Anies so that he could meet the shortage of the seat. And we continue to pray that all efforts will be made easier," said Kholid.

But he added, until now there are still two options available. First, it is PKS' priority to ensure the SAFE pair sail. The second option, opening another option if the AMAN pair cannot sail due to lack of seats.

"In the two options above, PKS requires that its cadres must compete either as Cagub or Cawagub. InsyAllah," he concluded.
