Supermarket Building Fire In Buru Maluku Due To Short Circuit, Police Make Sure It's Controlled

MALUKU - Police conducted identification at the location of the supermarket fire in Pilar Hamlet, Namlea Village, Namlea District, Buru Regency, Maluku.

"Currently, a number of personnel, both from the Buru Police and the Namlea Police, have identified the fire site to ensure security and carry out further evaluations," said Buru Police Chief AKBP Sulastri Sukidjang, in a written statement, Monday, August 5, quoted by Antara.

The supermarket building, which was burned down in the early hours of Monday, August 5, is thought to have occurred due to a short circuit or short circuit in one of the electrical installations at around 03.00 WIT.

In the incident, there were no casualties in the incident.

"The situation at the location of the fire is currently safe and under control. The Buru Police and Namlea Police continue to monitor the situation," he said.

He explained that the supermarket contained flammable items, including gas cylinders, so that the fire quickly burned the entire room.

"The employees have tried to extinguish it with water, but the fire continues to grow and spread throughout the building. No casualties have been reported, and material losses have yet to be confirmed," he said.

He explained that the fire incident could be resolved after a fire engine unit and a water canon (AWC) car were deployed.

"The obstacles in handling are caused by the limited number of fire engines. In addition, delays in notification to the fire department also worsen the situation," he said.

The police chief hopes that this incident can be a lesson for other supermarket managers to be more careful and tighten building security management.

"We need better preventive measures to avoid similar accidents in the future. This incident also reflects the importance of an early warning system against fires," he said.
