JK Visits The Funeral Of Hamas Officials For The Sake Of Joint Peace

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) 10th and 12th of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla (JK) said his visit to the funeral of Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh for the sake of mutual peace.

"I'm friends with all of them, so we try to have peace together, meaning ending the war," said JK when met in Jakarta, Monday, August 5, as reported by Antara.

He emphasized that the community would not be able to do anything without peace, so interfaith conflicts must be ended.

"The community will not be able to do anything (if the conflict continues), welfare, sincerity, religious life will not be achieved if it is not peaceful," said JK.

Previously, JK departed for Qatar on Thursday 1 August to attend Ismail Haniyeh's funeral.

"This fulfills the hope that we send the Indonesian delegation there and we are invited to attend the funeral of the late Ismail Haniyeh," said JK in a statement before leaving.

The Hamas leader died with his aides as a result of a missile attack targeting his residence in northern Tehran, Iran, on Wednesday, July 31.

A number of government officials, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and other national figures together with the Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun also held an occult prayer at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Friday (2/8) for the late Ismail Haniyeh who was killed in the Israeli attack.

Thousands of Istiqlal worshipers jointly performed the Gaib prayer for the late head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas struggle group, Ismail Abdul Salam Haniyeh, who was led directly by the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun, we are all grieving, and on behalf of myself I express our deep condolences for the tragedy or attempt that the Israeli Zionist has made that led to the death of the late Al-Maghfurlah Ismail Abdul Salam Haniyeh, who we know as former Prime Minister of Palestine who died on July 31 as a result of the Israeli Zionist rocket attack," Nasaruddin Umar said in Jakarta, Friday.
