JAKARTA - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on a deal to exchange detainees with a number of Western countries.
Trump told his supporters in Atlanta, Georgia, United States (US), about it.
"[Putin] has made another great deal," Trump said, quoted from Tass, Sunday, August 4.
However, Trump's different response was addressed by the US Government led by President Joe Biden regarding the exchange of prisoners.
"We got our people back, but we really made some very, very bad deals", Trump said.The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that eight Russian nationals, detained or convicted in several NATO countries, as well as two minors, had been sent home in exchange for custody at Ankara Airport, Turkey on August 1.
One of those exchanged was Russian citizen Vadim Krasikov, who has served a life sentence in Germany.
The Russian citizen was exchanged for a group of individuals acting in the interests of other countries.
