Ridwan Kamil Was Carried In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, This Is Anies' Response

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan responded to the Golkar Party's decision to finally decide to carry Ridwan Kamil in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Anies handed over the constellation of nominations for governors and deputy governors in Jakarta to political parties. The former governor of DKI for the 2017-2022 period admitted that he was more focused on paying attention to residents.

"Let the political process run, but my focus does not want to shift. My focus is on the citizens of Jakarta," said Anies in the CFD Sudirman-Thamrin area, Central Jakarta, Sunday, August 4.

Ahead of the nomination of regional heads in the 2024 Pilkada, Anies admitted that he was more focused on absorbing the aspirations of the people, including the aspirations received by coalition parties who wanted to carry it in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Anyway, this is about the citizens of Jakarta. About Jakarta residents who want better services, want their lives to be more prosperous, more prosperous," said Anies.

Anies admitted that he had indeed communicated with political parties, including the coalition party that carried Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election.

Anies was indeed assigned by the NasDem Party, one of the political parties that would carry him, to open communication regarding opportunities for additional support. However, Anies was reluctant to reveal what was in the discussion.

"I will definitely tell you after the program is ready to run. Even though there is communication with all of them, including with Gerindra's friends, but later on. We'll just talk when it's right," he explained.

It was revealed that the Golkar Party would eventually carry Ridwan Kamil in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada. This was said by the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, who stated that he would join Gerindra to carry Dedi Mulyadi in the West Java gubernatorial election.

Thus, the former Governor of West Java is projected to run for the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Yes, it's clear if West Java is like that, it means who is Jakarta, especially KIM Plus's Jakarta," said Airlangga on Friday, August 2.

Secretary General of the Golkar Party DPP Lodewijk F. Paulus also gave a signal that his party might carry Ridwan Kamil in Jakarta.

"(If) Mr. Dedi there (West Java, ed.), it means (the billboards) of OTW (on the way Jakarta) RK are true. Maybe billboards are installed again, right? How do you agree or not? " Lodewijk said in response to journalists' questions.

Ridwan Kamil, who is the deputy chairman of Golkar, previously received instructions from the party to prepare himself to run as a candidate for governor in two provinces, namely Jakarta and West Java.
