The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Ensures That There Is No Intervention In Investigating The President's Bansos Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating allegations of corruption in the president's social assistance (bansos) which was distributed at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The proof is that the suspect has been determined and a search has been carried out.

"There is no intervention in the social assistance case, yes, which is being handled," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, August 2.

Tessa said the investigation into the alleged corruption was carried out based on a warrant for the start of the investigation (sprindik) which named a suspect. And we are still looking for evidence from related parties," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

As for this case, searches have also been carried out. Tessa did not specify the place, but she said there were three private houses and two offices visited by investigators.

From this forced effort, he continued, investigators found and confiscated documents and two cellphones. "On July 23 to July 26, there was a search for the case in three private houses and two offices located in Jakarta, Bekasi, and South Tangerang," he explained.

Previously reported, the KPK revealed that it was investigating allegations of corruption in the procurement of presidential social assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic which was distributed in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) in 2020. There are already suspects named, namely Ivo Wongkaren who is the President Director of Mitra Energi Persada.

The actions of the suspect in this case, called the anti-corruption commission, made the state lose up to Rp250 billion. This figure can still increase because the calculation is still being carried out.

The procurement that was corrupted was said to have reached 6 million packages of anti-corruption commission. This figure is divided into three stages, namely, stages three, five, and six, the other reaching two million packages.
