Asked To Run For Pilkada, Kaesang: I Will Accompany My Wife

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep said he would accompany his wife, Erina Gudono, to continue his studies abroad.

"My answer is that I will accompany my wife. That's my answer," said Kaesang as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 2.

Meanwhile, PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni said Kaesang's statement was a personal choice.

"Of course in this life there is a public interest, there is a personal interest. Of course, in time, Mas Kaesang will make a personal decision, of course he will be invited to chat with his wife, yes," said Raja.

However, continued Raja, PSI cadres and constituents at grassroots recommended more Kaesang to run in the Central Java Pilkada than DKI Jakarta.

Raja juga mengatakanPSI mengikuti langkah Komisi Indonesia Maju (KIM) pada Pilkada 2024, termasuk keputusan mengenai jadi atau tidaknya pencalonan Kaesang.

"We will really pay attention to the recommendations from KIM. Even if we look at the recommendations from the constituents, the public expectations below, many direct Mas Kaesang to run in Central Java rather than Jakarta. So, it means it's up to friends in KIM how best it will be," he said.

Previously, Kaesang said that his wife plans to continue her graduate study (S-2) at the School of Social and Practice, University of Pennsylvania, United States.

Through uploading his official Instagram account, Kaesangp, Kaesang congratulated Erina and promised to always support his wife who is currently pregnant.

"This journey may not be easy, but Mas believes Adik will go through every challenge with enthusiasm and courage. Mas will always support you, encourage you, and stand on your side in every step of learning starting this August," wrote Kaesang.
