Update On COVID-19 As Of March 23: 5.297 New Cases. 126.439 Active Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 77.402 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 5.297 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 1.471.225 people and 126.439 active cases", quoted from the Ministry of Health as saying, Tuesday, March 23.

Today's cases have increased to 6.954 cases so that a total of 1.304.921 people have recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 154 people and the total was 39.869 people.

The province with the newest cases is in West Java with 1.216 cases and a total of 242.420 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta which has 815 new cases with a total of 372.871 cases. Central Java has 732 new cases and a total of 165.865 cases. Then, Banten has 298 new cases and a total of 35.338 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1.696 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 1.394 recovered cases, Central Java with an increase of 1.014 recovered cases and Banten with an increase of 541 recovered cases.

There are two provinces that reported no new cases as of today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were North Sulawesi and West Sulawesi.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 12.176.869.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 20.13 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 44.848 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

Furthermore, currently, there are 5.732.210 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 2.494.422 vaccines for the second dose. Meanwhile, the total vaccination targets reached 40.349.051 people.
