JAKARTA - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the majority of Indonesia will experience rain on Friday, August 2, 2024.

"Starting from the Sumatra region, Banda Aceh is forecasted to be thick cloudy. The potential for light rain is found in the field area and also in Tanjung pinang. Meanwhile, the potential for rain is predicted to occur in Padang and Pekanbaru," said BMKG forecaster Bagas Brilliano, quoted by ANTARA.

Bagas explained that a number of other areas on the islands of Sumatra Jambi, Bengkulu and Palembang are forecasted to be thick cloudy, and Pangkal Pinang and Lampung are forecasted for light rain.

Turning to Java, he continued, the majority of areas, such as Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya are forecasted for light rain. Meanwhile, Yogyakarta is forecasted to be cloudy.

"Meanwhile, for the Kupang, Mataram and Denpasar areas, it is generally sunny and cloudy," he said.

In the Kalimantan region, said Bagas, the potential for light rain is predicted in Pontianak, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, and Samarinda. Rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to fall in Tanjung Selor.

"Furthermore, for the Sulawesi region, such as Makassar, Gorontalo and Kendari, they are generally cloudy to thick cloudy," he said.

Meanwhile, in other areas of Sulawesi, said Bagas, light rain is forecasted for Mamuju and Palu, and Manado is forecasted to experience heavy rain.

Meanwhile, in Eastern Indonesia, he continued, light rain is predicted to occur in Ambon, Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, Jayawijaya, and Jayapura.

Then, it is predicted that rain will occur in Nabire and Merauke which are forecasted to be thick cloudy.
