JAKARTA - The SMRC survey institute released a public opinion poll regarding the implementation of the national COVID-19 vaccination.

SMRC research director Deni Irvani said there were still many residents who did not believe the vaccines provided by the government were safe for health.

As a result, 64 percent of residents believe the COVID-19 vaccine provided by the government is safe for the health of its users. There was 25 percent who did not believe it, and 11 percent did not answer.

"We can see together that the attitude towards vaccines has a relation with the tendency of citizens to want to be vaccinated and the ones who do not", Deni said in a virtual presentation of the survey, Tuesday, March 23.

Deni explained that there was 8.4 percent of respondents had received an invitation to refuse vaccination. Then, as many as 91.3 percent admitted that they had never been asked to refuse vaccines. Meanwhile, 0.3 percent did not answer.

"It turns out that there are residents who have received an invitation to refuse vaccines. The numbers are not many. But, of course, if we are from about 180 million adults in the population of this survey, of course, this number is not small, residents are exposed to the invitation to refuse vaccines", he explained.

In addition, Deni explained that the number of respondents who had undergone vaccination was 2.7 percent. Meanwhile, 97.3 percent said they had not received the vaccine.

This survey was conducted from 28 February to 8 March 2020. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1.220 randomly selected respondents. The margin of error for this survey is estimated to be around 3.07 percent and the survey's confidence level is 95 percent.
