Hamas Leader Killed By Israeli Attack, MUI Encourages OKI Countries To Hold Emergency Meetings

JAKARTA - The chairman of the MUI for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, also mourned the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh after experiencing an attack in Tehran, Iran. Sudarnoto encouraged Islamic countries belonging to the OIC to make an emergency meeting. "Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun. Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa afihi wa fu anhu. Dr. Ismail Haniyeh has died as a martyr was killed by Israel following previous martyrs. God willing, the deceased will be placed on the side of Allah in His Naim-Park. Amen," Sudarnoto said in a written statement, Thursday, August 1.

"Don't let Israel's systemic killings against anyone be carried out. OKI countries need to have an emergency meeting after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh set more measurable military measures to effectively stop Israel's killings and culling," he continued.

Sudarnoto assessed that Ismail Haniyeh was a figure and leader for the Palestinian people. According to him, Haniyeh's leadership was able to fight the genocide committed by Israel.

"His persistent struggle, along with other Hamas figures and fighters and resistance forces against Israel, has also succeeded in mobilizing global powers to bring Israel's crimes to the ICJ, whose results continue to be moved to this day. Until the United Nations gave a final decision that effectively found Israel guilty of being proven to have been ocuption and genocide," said Sudarnoto.

Sudarnoto assessed that what happened in Palestine was not a matter of Hamas and Israel, but a global problem. Because according to him, Israel has actually violated international law. Sudarnoto also invited the world community and countries that are currently de facto has provided support for Palestinian sovereignty to continue to press for the destruction of Israel.

"All de facto countries have also provided support for Palestinian sovereignty, it is important to take steps to provide support for this military approach," said Sudarnoto.

Sudarnoto also asked the Iranian government to take more effective steps to stop Israel's actions that have ignited the escalation of the opposition.

"I invite and call on the Muslim community in particular to perform occult prayers and pray for the glory and independence of Palestine," he said.
