The GORONTALO - Earthquake in Gorontalo on Thursday morning at 08.00 WITA was felt in the northern coastal area of Gorontalo Province, namely North Gorontalo Regency. North Gorontalo residents in Kwandang Adriansyah District, to ANTARA in Gorontalo, admitted that the earthquake vibration felt very strong horizontally shaking. "This earthquake was felt enough and caused panic for us who were in the room. Luckily it didn't last long and caused no damage," he said. The earthquake was very pronounced in the district's capital area. It was the same as felt in the western region of the district in Dulukapa Village, East Sumalata District. "The earthquake in our area was felt enough but did not last long. The atmosphere inside the house like a hanging light swayed but did not cause panic," said local resident Rizan Demanto. Head of Gorontalo Geophysics Station Andri Wijaya Field said an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred at 08:08 WITA, located 0.11 south latitude (LS), 123.29 east longitude (BT).

The earthquake occurred in 73 kilometers southeast of Bone Bolango, Gorontalo Province with a depth of 129 kilometers. The earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami. "Several residents in the Gorontalo Province, including in Sipatana District, Gorontalo city, reported that the earthquake was very pronounced in the area," he said.
