Alfius Way And Husein Totarago Ready To Bring Change In South Sorong

JAKARTA - Simultaneous regional elections will be held in various regions in Indonesia, including in South Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua Province. Alfius Way, who is usually called Alfi, announced his candidacy in the South Sorong Pilkada for the period 2024-2029. "It's true, I will run in the regional elections in South Sorong for the period 2024-2029," said Alfi while visiting the VOI office in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 30.

Alfi did not go forward alone; he will be paired with Husein Totarago, an ASN from Kokoda district, South Sorong Regency. "We have held a traditional event asking Pak Husein to pair me in the South Sorong Pilkada. This is our custom, if you want to propose a woman or a potential partner in the regional election, it must be done traditionally. With this process, it is hoped that there will be a strong inner bond with each other," said Alfi.

This candidate pair is known as Sahabat AW-HT (Alfius Way - Husein Totarago). Prior to running as candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent, Alfi and Husein had served as ASN in South Sorong Regency for more than 20 years, since this district was founded in 2002. "Before advancing in political contestation in South Sorong, we were ASN in South Sorong Regency. We have served the nation and state for more than 20 years," he added.

Alfi emphasized that his dedication to South Sorong would not stop even though they were no longer state servants. "If we are trusted, we will continue our service as regional leaders. We already know this area well, and the public also knows our roles and roles so far," explained Alfi.

Alfi and Husein promised to make significant changes in South Sorong if they won the Pilkada. "We want to improve the welfare of the community. The problems that exist in Southwest Papua, especially in South Sorong, are not much different from those faced by many other regions in Indonesia. The issue of education, health, community empowerment, and economic strengthening are our main focus," he said.
