STIE Bultar Students Protest A Lecturer Protest Allegedly Extortion

TANJUNG SELOR - A student at the Bulungan-Tarakan Economic Sciences College (STIE Bultar) Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), rallied on the STIE Bultar Campus page.

The action was motivated by a lecturer who was suspected of making levies (extortion).

The field coordinator (Korlap) of the action, Farel Izha Mahendra, revealed that the extortion action had been going on for a long time and was strengthened by evidence of a request for a sum of money through WhatsApp, a lecturer.

"This lecturer has been carried out since 2018. The lecturer has also asked students to pay a dues of Rp. 25 thousand per person and threatened to receive a bad value if they did not pay the dues," said Farel, Tuesday, July 30.

"So we ask the Academic Civitas to dismiss the lecturer from his position as Head of the Development Economy Study Program (Kaprodi)," he continued.

According to information, the lecturer has resigned. However, there has been no official letter from STIE Bultar.

"We demand that this case be resolved through applicable legal channels if it is proven that there is extortion and asks for protection for students who are victims of this extortion practice," he said.

In addition, the action period also requested that STIE Bultar conduct an independent investigation.

"We are demanding an independent investigation to investigate the alleged extortion committed by the lecturer," he said.

Farel emphasized that his party requested that the results of the investigation be published transparently to all Academic Civities.

"If our demands are not met, all of us students in the 2020 class majoring in the Development Economy will take solidarity actions," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of STIE Bultar Marso emphasized that the demands submitted during the action period had been further processed.

"We have been processing these demands since June 3", he explained.

If students still have complaints, they will review the rules regarding the type of violation allegedly committed by the lecturer.

"The campus has taken action steps. The lecturer has resigned," he said.
