JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) provided protection for the family and witnesses of the Rico Perfect Pasaribu case, a journalist who died with his family in a house fire in Karo, North Sumatra.
"The application for protection has met the protection requirements in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 2014," said LPSK Deputy Chair Wawan Fahrudin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 26.
Wawan explained that the three people who received protection from LPSK had the initials EM, RF and VS.
Wawan continued, they have submitted a request for protection to LPSK since July 4, 2024 through their attorney.
The application for protection was immediately reviewed by the LPSK until it was finally approved today.
The three of them received physical protection in the form of security and escort during the trial and when the three provided information in each criminal justice process. In addition, the LPSK also provides restitution facilities and temporary cost of living assistance.
