JAKARTA - Pediatrician at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) Eka Laksmi Hidayati said the number of children undergoing analysis there was because RSCM was a referral hospital that received patients even from outside Java.

He conveyed this in response to the large number of pediatric patients who were dialysis at the RSCM which went viral on social media.

Eka said that currently there are around 60 children undergoing routine analysis, of which 30 children are undergoing hemodialysis.

"Because they also see that there are already referrals that they can send, then many also send them. That's what causes a lot of gathering, and it also makes the Ministry of Health feel that indeed this must be distributed to this child's kidneys, and this is being done," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 25.

He explained that kidney disorders in children are different from kidney disorders in adults. The cases that are often found, he said, are congenital disorders.

"Congenital disorder can be in the form of a form when born, indeed the form of the kidney is abnormal or its abnormal function. Which is a function that is often congenital necrostatic syndrome," he said.

He explained that usually necrotic syndrome does not cause a decrease in kidney function. However, if it occurs from the womb, then when born with symptoms, it generally becomes kidney failure.
