JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan planted a ficus racemosa tree on the banks of the Ciliwung River. To be precise, at Taman Maju Bersama Gintung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

In commemoration of World Water Day, Anies chooses a tree planting location on the riverbank because the roots can bind the soil so that the river ecosystem can be maintained and avoid erosion.

Anies linked the planting of ficus racemosa trees with the river naturalization program he initiated. According to Anies, changes in nature coupled with damage must make humans realize that they have to adapt to nature.

"Now we have to seriously find ways to adapt to that natural life. So when we talk about naturalization, then how do we live together with natural cycles, for example, rivers that have tides and tides, so we have to build by following this cycle", said Anies at the location, Monday, March 22.

According to Anies, TMB Gintung in Jagakarsa is a park on the banks of the Ciliwung River complete with biodiversity (animals and plants) which was built in collaboration with residents and communities.

TMB functions as a water base, where during the rainy season most of the area will be submerged and make the river flow controlled.

Meanwhile, during the dry season, the location of the water base will recede and residents can use it from gardening to doing natural activities.

"The example of this park, which is a collaboration on how to use it at low tide or during high tide, becomes a parking lot for water. We want this collaboration to be developed so that more activities from residents who preserve nature with the support of the government and the government are present to ensure that nature is well preserved", explained Anies.
