PAN fired West Lombok Regent after being arrested by the KPK

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Viva Yoga Mauladi said that his party had expelled West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini from party membership after the arrest operation (OTT) carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

According to him, PAN regrets and apologizes for the actions of party cadres who violate the law in their positions. In this case, PAN also supports the KPK in carrying out its duties.

"PAN welcomes the KPK to carry out its legal process in a transparent, objective, and accountable manner in order to obtain justice and legal justice," said Viva Yoga as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 21.

He emphasized that PAN DPP Chairman Zulkifli Hasan also never stopped reminding all members not to commit corruption. According to him, PAN always reminds its members who are regional heads to be aware of themselves and be careful in managing local governments.

Apart from being the Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad is also the Chairman of the West Nusa Tenggara PAN DPW. For this reason, Viva also confirmed that the position had been taken over by the PAN DPP.

"PAN always supports the existence of the KPK in its main tasks of eradicating corruption, creating a clean government, and upholding the rule of law," he said.

Previously, the KPK said that OTT who trapped Lalu Ahmad was related to alleged conflicts of interest.

"This case is suspected to be related to conflicts of interest in procurement," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta, Tuesday.

In addition, he said the case was related to alleged project bribes, as well as other receipts or gratuities in the environment of the West Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara.
