UNRWA Says Gaza Children Are Victims of Suffering and Loss of Childhood

JAKARTA - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Wednesday that children are bearing the highest price of the war in the Gaza Strip, amid displacement and fear, losing their childhood.

"Our UNRWA colleagues continue to provide psychological, social, and recreational activities to give children as much normality as possible," the agency said on social media X, reported by WAFA, July 25.

"Children should be able to be children," the agency added.

On Tuesday, UNRWA communications officer Louise Wateridge, said in an interview with British BBC Radio 4, Israel has placed more than 80 percent of the territory in the Gaza Strip under evacuation orders, while thousands of Palestinians continue to flee the city of Khan Younis.

Separately, medical sources in Gaza on Wednesday said that at least 55 people were killed and 110 others were injured in Israeli attacks that occurred in the past 24 hours.

That brings the death toll of Palestinians due to Israel's deadly aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, to 39,145, while at least 90,257 others were injured.

In the West Bank, the death toll from attacks by the occupation and occupier forces has risen to 589, including 142 children, since October 7, 2023.
