JAKARTA - Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid explained the reason his party wanted to carry the Chairman of the Central Java PKB DPW, Muhammad Yusuf Chudlori alias Gus Yusuf in the Central Java gubernatorial election.
Jazilul assessed that Central Java needs to have leaders from among religious leaders. Gus Yusuf, in his view, met these criteria more than the candidates who are now appearing in the Central Java gubernatorial candidate exchange.
"Today, none of the kiai and pesantren elements are advancing except Gus Yusuf. In Central Java, we also need to propose an alternative cagub. There are former Panglima, former Kapolda, the President's son. Well, it also needs to be from the kiai," Jazilul told reporters, Wednesday, July 24.
Menurut Jazilul, Jawa Tengah membutuhkan pemimpin yang memiliki "warna" agamis dan nasionalis. Hal ini ditangkap PKB setelah menerima banyak aspirasi dari masyarakat.
"Well, it just so happened that the party, which had been close to and captured the aspirations of the PKB kiai and happened to be in Central Java PKB, the second winning party," said Jazilul.
"So this is a consideration and the Central Java DPW asks to really absorb what is the input from the residents of Central Java," he added.
On the one hand, Deputy Secretary General of PKB Syaiful Huda ensured that Gus Yusuf still had a chance to win if he was carried in the Central Java Pilkada this year.
Because, based on the results of the latest survey, there are no candidates who have high electability, including Kaesang Pangarep and Ahmad Lutfi who are predicted as strong candidates to advance.
"The results of the Central Java survey have not at all had a significant figure with electability. If you refer to the last legislators of several survey institutions, Kaesang has only 7 percent, Pak Lutfi has only 6 percent, the rest are 3, there are 1, there are 2. So, today there is no best figure in Central Java," said Huda.
