Bambang Pacul Calls Many Proposals For Andika Perkasa To Advance For Central Java Gubernatorial Election

Chairman of the Central Java PDI-P DPD Bambang Wuryanto admitted that there were many proposals at the elite level for the former TNI Commander General Purn. Andika Perkasa to run in the 2024 Central Java Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

"Yes, there is a proposal in the center like that. However, the determination is of course by the General Chair. To this day it has not been determined," said the figure who is familiarly called Bambang Pacul after the election coordination meeting at Panti Marhen, Semarang, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 23.

However, he said, rumors had already circulated among the PDI-P DPP regarding Andika's possibility of being nominated.

The emergence of Andika's name, according to him, actually does not mean to be pitted against another candidate who happens to be a general, namely the Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, but rather because of his figure and experience.

"It doesn't mean we want to complain or bang, not at all," he said.

Bambang Pacul assesses Andika as a qualified figure to lead Central Java forward with a myriad of experience, including as TNI Commander.

"Pak Andika Perkasa is a figure who can make us, PDI-P friends, maybe there is a little bit of security and comfort, that's how it is," he said.

"Yes. The figure of Mr. Andika, in addition to four stars (Generals), former commanders, is also sympathetic. We are happy," he continued.

The 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada, including in Central Java, is scheduled to take place on 27 November.

Several names have previously appeared to enliven the Central Java Pilkada exchange such as the Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Ahmad Luthfi, Hendrar Prihadi (former Mayor of Semarang), then Sudaryono (Chairman of the Central Java Gerindra Party DPD), to Kendal Regent Dico Ganinduto.

However, recently Sudaryono did not continue his candidacy for the Central Java Pilkada after becoming Deputy Minister of Agriculture. Meanwhile, Dico also decided to switch to the 2024 Semarang City Pilkada.
