JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party has decided to nominate the Central Java Police Chief, Ahmad Lutfi as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Pilkada. Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, said that the three-star general will soon retire from his position. So according to Muzani, Ahmad Lutfi could prepare himself as a candidate for the Central Java gubernatorial candidate who will be registered with the KPU on 27 August. "In time, Pa Lutfi may soon retire from the position of regional police chief or active police to immediately prepare himself as a candidate for governor," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, June 22, evening. "And maybe after that, the intensity of political communication with party officials including party officials will be intensified. Because his position is also inactive as a member of the Indonesian police," he continued. "Well (Lutfi cagub Central Java, ed) was decided first, then Daryono was asked to concentrate on efforts on food stocks and strengthening. Because Central Java is one of the provinces where when we campaigned for agricultural issues, fertilizers were also quite intensive," explained Muzani.

Regarding the cawagub, Muzani said, it has not been discussed both internally in Gerindra and with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition. However, he admitted that several names had been entered.

"As far as I have followed, talks about cawagub have not been discussed. Even though several names have been entered, Mr. Prabowo has decided that it will only be a candidate for governor," he said.
