Do Not Hesitate To Report To This Post If You Are A Victim Of Social Assistance Corruption

JAKARTA - The Civil Society Coalition opens a complaint post for people who are victims of corruption in social assistance (bansos) in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This coalition involved a number of non-governmental organizations, namely LBH Jakarta, ICW, YLBHI, KontraS, and the Integrity Vision law office.

The opening of this complaint post was conveyed by former KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah. Through his Twitter account @febridiansyah, this advocacy is aimed at victims of corruption cases, including the COVID-19 social assistance corruption that ensnared former Social Minister Juliari Peter Batubara.

"The perpetrators of the Covid-19 Social Assistance bribery have begun to be tried, but what is the fate of the people as CORRUPTION VICTIMS? Can victims claim their rights? poskorbanbansos #korbanKorupsi, ”wrote the anti-corruption activist as quoted on Monday, March 22.

Febri said this post was opened because victims in one corruption case often did not pay attention to the law enforcement process. In fact, corruption is always detrimental to many parties, starting from state financial losses to impacting the wider community.

Not only that, the community is currently feeling the direct impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, both economically and in health. This, then was exacerbated by the condition in which social assistance money was corrupted.

"Social assistance money is cut, is consecrated and becomes a waste of money, enriching various parties, including a number of politicians," he said.

Based on estimates, Febri said, there are at least 1.3 million beneficiary families who are now losing money because their rights are corrupted.

"Even the Minister of Social Affairs at that time mentioned the urgency of social assistance to ensure the economic stability of the community which is threatened by an economic recession due to the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

"Obviously, this social assistance corruption violates the human rights of millions of people," added Febri.

For this reason, Febri said, the civil society coalition not only urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to process all actors in social assistance corruption but also pay more attention to the victims.

All complaints that come in will later become the basis for joint legal action or public lawsuits to demand recovery from community losses as victims of corruption. This effort is carried out as an escort and supervision measure for the social assistance distribution policy.
