JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) ensures that the impact of the floods that hit Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, can be resolved quickly.

"The Central Halmahera BPBD rapid reaction team has been alerted to the disaster site to carry out emergency handling for residents," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in his statement, Monday, July 22.

According to Muhari, it is not yet known how many victims and houses or public facilities were flooded by the Kobe River in Lilief Waibulan Village, Central Weda, Central Halmahera, because it is still in the process of being assessed.

However, according to him, since Sunday, July 21, most of the local villagers have evacuated to a safe place and are in the handling of joint officers.

The BNPB Pusdalops ensured that the quick reaction team prioritized the evacuation and distribution of basic necessities, such as food to the victims.

"In a state of disaster, public safety is the main priority," he said.

Muhari said that in the next few days, the rapid reaction team and joint officers were still on standby at the disaster site to ensure the condition of the residents was in good condition.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that North Maluku will still be hit by moderate-degree rain, potentially causing further flooding.
