Argentina Apologizes To France In The Aftermath Of Player Racism

JAKARTA - The Argentine government apologized to France, in the aftermath of the player racism case raised by the Tango team.

In the AFP report, the case of racism involving the Argentine national team players became increasingly cloudy after Argentine Vice President Victoria Villaruel called the European country "colonical" and its people "municative" in an argument over the alleged racist chant of the Tango team in the celebration of the 2024 Copa America champions.

Argentine President Javier Milei said his party had sent a senior official to the French embassy to explain that Victoria Villarruel's angry statement on social media was made in his personal capacity.

"No colonial state will intimidate us because of the stadium's singing or because they speak the truth that they don't want to admit. Enough with the anger of pretending, hypocritical people," Victoria Villarruel wrote on his personal social media page as a form of support for Argentine player Enzo Fernandez reported by ANTARA from AFP, Saturday, July 20.

Currently FIFA has carried out racist-brandedchants investigations shown for French national team striker Kylian Mbappe. Enzo Fernandez and a number of his colleagues called Mbappe a descendant player who defended France.

Through an upload on his Instagram page, Enzo Fernandez apologized to all parties for his inappropriate actions in the video and promised to be against discrimination.

The diplomatic relations process between the two countries over the incident had taken place days before Milei was scheduled to travel to Paris to attend the Olympics opening ceremony.

"The diplomatic relationship with France is still intact," said presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni.

domino effect of the case also left Argentina's Deputy Minister for sport Julio Garro out of office this week after saying captain Lionel Messi and the Argentine Football Association should apologize for the chant.
