DKI Residents Do Not Need To Worry, Food Stocks Ahead Of Ramadan Are Safe

JAKARTA - Head of the Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Service (KPKP) Suharini Eliawati said that her party has monitored the availability of foodstuffs in the market ahead of Ramadan in mid-April.

As a result, there is sufficient strategic food available. These foods include rice, beef, chicken meat, chicken eggs, onions, garlic, red curly chilies, red bird's eye chilies, sugar and cooking oil.

"People do not need to be afraid or worried about food availability ahead of Ramadan in 2021," said Suharini in his statement, Saturday, March 20.

As an illustration, the current rice stock in Jakarta is 305 thousand tons of the 82 thousand tons demand. Then, the stock of shallots is 2,844 tonnes of the 2,484 tonne requirement.

Garlic stock is as much as 1,747 tons from the requirement of 1,563 tons. Stock of curly red chilies is 2,117 tons of the 2,095 tons requirement. Stock of red chili as much as 1,406 tons of the need for 1,375 tons. The stock of beef is 15 thousand tons from the 1,965 tons requirement.

Stock of chicken meat as much as 8,900 of the requirement of 8,091 tons. Stock of chicken eggs is 8,218 tonnes of the need for 7,399. Sugar stock is as much as 11 thousand tons of the need for 4,239 tons. The stock of cooking oil is 24 thousand tons, of the need for 7,963 tons.

"Based on the data above, all food stocks are sufficient to meet the needs during Ramadan," said Suharini.

Suharini continued, the DKI KPKP Department will also continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture's Food Security Agency, DPPKUKM, and Bulog for the implementation of low-cost food titles and market operations. This is to ease the burden on society in the event of an increase in food prices.

"To ensure the quality of food safety, DKPKP and POM DKI Jakarta Center will routinely carry out food supervision to ensure that food consumed by Jakarta residents is safe from dangerous chemicals such as formaldehyde, borax, pesticide residues, chlorine, synthetic dyes, and so on," he concluded.
