Grace Natalie: IKN Long-Term Development Takes 15-20 Years

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Grace Natalie estimates that the long-term development process for the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan Province, will take the next 15 to 20 years.

"IKN is a long-term program, it could be 15-20 years. Currently is the first phase of 2022-2024. So, 15 percent of it is all," Grace Natalie said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 17.

For the first phase, said Grace, a number of achievement targets are in the form of physical construction of the State Palace, a number of coordinating ministry offices, as well as water and electricity supplies.

"IKN with a land area ranging from four times in the Jakarta area is a big project that is being worked on by the government," he said.

As previously reported, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono ensured that clean water and electricity supplies were ready before President Joko Widodo began his office at IKN.

The clean water testing process has begun on July 15, 2024.

In addition, the new capital city of Indonesia has received a electricity supply of 10 megawatts and will be increased to 40 megawatts.

PT PP (Persero), a state-owned construction and investment company, is optimistic about completing the construction of the State Palace at IKN before August 17, 2024.

Several projects in the IKN area were successfully completed by PT PP with 100 percent progress, namely the Central Government Core Area Preparation Project or KIPP Phase 1, KIPP Phase 2 Preparation Project, IKN Logistics Pier Project, and Phase 1 Phase of the West Side National Aquaculture Project.

President Joko Widodo has also signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 75 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of IKN Development, which generally regulates the provision of incentives for potential investors who participate in building services and facilities at IKN.
