UN Says Israel Continues to Prevent Fuel for Gaza Aid

JAKARTA - The United Nations (UN) said that the Israeli occupation authorities are still preventing the provision of fuel needed by humanitarian aid workers, causing obstacles to the distribution of food supplies in the Gaza Strip.

"The Israeli authorities are still not allowing the provision of fuel needed by humanitarian aid workers, and therefore the distribution of food is hampered," the UN said, as reported by WAFA on July 17.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said that dozens of civilians were killed and others were injured in recent Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Dujarric said that "one of the attacks occurred 100 meters from the humanitarian aid operations center in Deir al-Balah."

He stressed that, despite this, humanitarian aid operations continue, adding that the attacks "make it even more difficult for people who are already working under great pressure."

Separately, medical sources in Gaza on Monday said that at least 49 Palestinians were killed and 69 others were injured in the past 24 hours.

Gaza health authorities confirmed that the death toll of Palestinians due to Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023 has increased to 38,713 people, while 89,166 others were injured, with the majority of victims being women and children.
