PDIP Promotes Irsan-Hadi Cadres In The 2024 East Kalimantan Gubernatorial Election

SAMARINDA - The Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) of East Kalimantan recommended the candidate pair for Isran Noor and Hadi Mulyadi to the Central Leadership Council (DPP) to be promoted at the 2024 Governor Election (Pilgub).

"We affirm our commitment to provide options to the community by bringing the couple Isran Noor and Hadi Mulyadi as Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan. This is in the process of going to the DPP. So just wait," said Chairman of the East Kalimantan PDIP DPD Safaruddin, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 16.

This step was taken to avoid the dominance of single candidates in the Pilgub contestation, where currently political party support is dominated by the Rudy Mas'ud-Seno Aji pair.

"We propose Isran-Hadi so that the community has a choice and avoids single candidates. Currently, the investigation process is still ongoing at the PDI-P Central Leadership Council (DPP)," he said.

The couple Rudy Mas'ud and Seno Aji, who have received majority support from parties with a quota of 42 seats in the East Kalimantan DPRD, seem to be the dominant Fatherslon in the dynamics of the gubernatorial election this time. However, Safaruddin emphasized that the East Kalimantan PDI-P remains focused on the Isran-Hadi investigation process to the DPP.

"We want the public to witness competitive political competitions. Don't let this year's gubernatorial election only be explored by a single candidate pair who only fight empty boxes," said Safaruddin.

He expressed this because he reflected that at the 2018 gubernatorial election, where there were four pairs of candidates who fought indicating the spirit of a healthy political competition.

According to KPU Regulation Number 8 of 2024 concerning the Nomination of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors, that candidate pairs must be promoted by parties or coalitions of parties with a minimum representation of 20 percent of the total seats in the DPRD at the level of the last election results. For the East Kalimantan DPRD, this means that candidate pairs must get support from at least 11 seats out of a total of 55 seats.

Currently, the Golkar Party has 15 seats, 10 Gerindra seats, 6 PKB seats, 4 PAN seats, 4 PKS seats, and 3 Nasdem seats. With a total of 42 seats, support has leaned towards Rudy Mas'ud and Seno Aji.

However, the East Kalimantan PDI-P, which has nine seats in the East Kalimantan DPRD, hopes to provide alternatives and enrich political choices for the community by proposing an incumbent Isran-Hadi pair.

Apart from PDIP, other parties that have not yet determined the official support for the governor and deputy governor candidates for the East Kalimantan gubernatorial election, namely the United Development Party and the Democratic Party, which both have two seats in the East Kalimantan DPRD.
