9,241 Students And 497 Teachers Died As A Result Of Israel's Aggression Since October 2023

JAKARTA - At least 9,241 students were killed and 15,182 others injured by Israeli aggression since October 2023, the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Education said.

The ministry said the number of students who died in the Gaza Strip since the start of the aggression reached more than 9,138 people, and 14,671 injured. While in the West Bank, 103 students were killed and 505 others injured.

"About 357 students were detained in the West Bank," the ministry said, launching WAFA July 16.

Furthermore, it was explained that as many as 497 teachers and administrators were killed and 3,426 others were injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in the same period.

Israel's aggression is also said to have caused about 353 government schools, universities, university buildings, and 65 belonging to the United Nations Aid and Work Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) to be bombed and damaged in the Gaza Strip, causing 139 of them to be badly damaged, and 93 completely destroyed.

In addition, 69 schools and five universities in the West Bank were invaded and damaged. 133 government schools are also used as shelters in the Gaza Strip.

"A total of 620,000 students in the Gaza Strip are still missing the opportunity to register at their schools since the start of the aggression, and 88,000 students have also missed the opportunity to register at universities," the ministry said.

He added that Israeli aggression since 7 October 2023 also caused around 39,000 students from the Gaza Strip to miss the opportunity to take the high school exam.

Separately, medical sources in Gaza on Monday said at least 22 Palestinians were killed and 102 others injured in Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Gaza's health authorities confirmed that the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli attack since October 7 had risen to 38,664 and other 89,097 injured, with the majority of victims being women and children.
