JAKARTA - The Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF) has compiled a travel map and calendar of Catholic religious tourism events to encourage Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to become the main destination for Catholic religious tourism in Indonesia.

"Together we work on the existing potential and we strengthen the branding of Flores Island as the main destination for Catholic religious tourism in Indonesia while jointly we explore all the potential that exists for us to develop," said Head of the Public Communications Division of BPOLBF Sisilia Jemana in a statement in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, Sunday.

He conveyed this in coordination and collaboration with stakeholders in the Archdiocese of Ende, Larantuka Diocese, Maumere Diocese, Ruteng Diocese, Labuan Bajo View and Tourism Office in 9 Regencies on Flores Island through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which was held online.

He added that the preparation of travel maps and calendars for Catholic religious tourism activities on the island of Flores is a step and commitment from the BPOLBF and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which targets Flores Island to become the main destination for Catholic religious tourism in Indonesia.

"It will be coordinated together with related'stakeholders' from the local government, the tourism office, and also the diocese on Flores Island," he said, as quoted by Antara.

He hopes that the efforts made by BPOLBF can further strengthen Flores Island's branding as the main destination for pilgrims who wish to travel Catholic spirituality.
