PSI: There Is No Final Agreement With Golkar On The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) said there had been no final agreement with the Golkar Party regarding the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.

"In the meeting (Thursday, 11/7), there has been no final agreement between the two parties to jointly carry PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep and Golkar cadre Jusuf Hamka. The idea was indeed conveyed by Golkar in the meeting, but there was no agreement regarding the proposal," said PSI Deputy Chairperson Andy Budiman in a statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 12.

He explained that the meeting on Thursday (11/7) generally discussed cooperation with Golkar in regional elections, as well as strategic strengthening related to the formation of factions in regional legislature, and the field of political education between the two parties.

Until now, the General Chairperson of the PSI DPP Kaesang Pangarep has not made a decision regarding the plan to advance in the regional elections. "We will not rush, and will pay close attention to the political situation, and listen to the voices of the public regarding this matter," he said.

In addition, Andy said that the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM), as stated by Kaesang, would remain rational in making choices based on surveys.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP, Ridwan Kamil, said he, was ranked first in a survey conducted by KIM in the Jakarta Pilkada.

KIM is a coalition that carries the President and Vice President elected Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 General Election. Apart from PSI and Golkar, KIM also consists of the Gerindra Party, the Democratic Party, and the National Mandate Party.
