Democrats Respect Golkar's Attitude To Ask Jusuf Hamka To Be The Cawagub Kaesang In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The Democratic Party respects the political stance of the Golkar Party which offered its cadre, Jusuf Hamka, to become a candidate for deputy governor (cawagub) in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. The party chaired by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) is also not a problem if Golkar proposes the duet of Jusuf Hamka with PSI General Chair Kaesang Pangarep to the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM). "We respect the political attitudes and decisions of the Golkar Party which proposed its main cadre, Mr. Jusuf Hamka as the cawagub to be paired with Mr. Kaesang, Chairman of PSI as a candidate for governor of Jakarta," said Deputy of Bappilu DPP of the Democratic Party Kamhar Lakumani, to reporters, Friday, July 12. Kamhar said the Democrats would continue to work with KIM in every collaboration with the 2024 Pilkada including the Jakarta gubernatorial election. Moreover, he said, Golkar was a colleague of the democratic coalition in the 2024 presidential election. "For the Jakarta gubernatorial election, the Democratic Party has always had an istiqomah heart with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition," he said. However, Kamhar reminded that the proposal of the Jakarta cagub and cawagub pairs is still very dynamic. It is known, previously the name Ridwan Kamil was predicted to be carried as a cawagub from KIM. Recently, the name that appeared was the youngest son of President Jokowi, Kaesang Pangarep.

"It is still dynamic to determine the cagub," said Kamhar. "(But) Anyone, which in time will be decided as a Cagub by KIM, the Democratic Party will respect the decision," he concluded.
