Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) RI Hadi Tjahjanto ensured that the TNI function in the TNI Bill would not take the TNI to a new order. "There is no longer a dwi function (era orba) that is the past, part of a historical journey," said Hadi during a press conference at the Borobudur hotel, Central Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, July 11. According to Hadi, the TNI's function in the past has opened up space for soldiers not only to enter the defense sector, but politics. Therefore, in the past there were ABRI factions who sat on the DPR seats to make religious political decisions. Now, he continued, the TNI's dual function is only intended to place TNI members in the posts of ministries or institutions to support government performance. "The task of the TNI in the ministry is not for practical political purposes, but to answer the needs of the ministry and in accordance with the president's policy," said Hadi. The capacity of the TNI which is occupied in several ministry or institutional posts will also be limited by regulations regulated in bills or regulations of the relevant ministries or institutions. Therefore, with this TNI function dwi, Hadi hopes that the TNI can make more contributions to run government programs.
