Democrats Promote Incumbents Zulkieflimansyah And Suhaili In The NTB Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, officially gave a recommendation for the nomination to Zulkieflimansyah and Suhaili Fadhil Thohir to run for the Election of the Governor and Deputy Governor (Pilgub) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Zulkeflimansyah is a cadre of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) who also served as Governor of NTB for the period 2018-2023.

"Pak Zulkiflimansyah is the incumbent governor who for the last 5 years has brought various progress and prosperity to the people of NTB," AHY said at the DPP Democrat office, Wednesday, July 10.

Previously, Zulkieflimansyah also served as a member of the DPR-RI from 2004 to 2018 representing the Banten II electoral district.

"With his complete background, an academic who later became a reliable politician, and has a good career in the parliament of the DPR RI as governor feels very good if what has been achieved in the last 5 years is all good things can be born in the next 5 years," he said.

Meanwhile, Suhaili is a cadre of the Golkar Party who has served as Regent of Central Lombok for the period 2010-2015 and 2016-2021. Suhaili has also served as Chairman of the NTB DPRD from 2004 to 2010.

Suhaili was previously a cagub competitor to Zulkieflimansyah in the 2018 NTB gubernatorial election.

"Although he has been competitive with each other, this is the beauty of politics from democracy in Indonesia. It doesn't then make him different but instead this can unite and focus more on the big goal together," said AHY

"I hope this pair can be solid, can be solid, can be successful in winning regional head elections and God willing, they will be re-elected as governors and be able to lead NTB for the next 5 years for the better," he added.
