The authorities arrested two fishermen from Cilacap, Central Java (Central Java) for catching clear lobster seeds in the waters of Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).
The Head of Capture Fisheries of the Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP) Kulon Progo Wakhid Purwosubiyantara said the arrests by his party and the Indonesian Navy Post (AL) Congot were based on reports from residents.
"From the report, we communicated with the Indonesian Navy Post Congot. We managed to lead the fisherman and were secured at the Congot Navy Post," said Wakhid in Kulon Progo, DIY, Tuesday, July 9, as reported by Antara.
He said fishermen should have arrested lobster clear seeds according to their respective areas. The actions taken by fishermen with the initials DD and GD were violations of the lobster clear seed capture area.
"Fishermen in Kulon Progo are actually also restless because many fishermen from outside are catching clear lobster seeds in the waters here," he said.
Wakhid appreciated the fast movement of the local fishermen who secured the two fishermen. Meanwhile, the confiscated lobster clear seeds have been released into the Bugel Beach area, Kapanewon Panjatan.
"The number of lobsters that were secured was 96 and we have released them on Bugel Beach," he said.
Nur Ahmad, a Kulon Progo fisherman, revealed that Monday (8/7) night he saw three fishing boats working about two kilometers from the lips of Congot Beach.
In the morning, two other boats sailed to the west, while one boat that DD and GD were traveling in was still at the location.
