Tuesday Afternoon 21 Regions in Indonesia Will be Hit by Heavy Rain, BMKG Warns of Floods and Landslides

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has reminded the public to be aware of heavy rain that is predicted to hit 21 provinces in Indonesia on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

As quoted from the official BMKG website by ANTARA Tuesday morning, the 21 provinces that are potentially hit by heavy rain are Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, and West Kalimantan.

Next, there are also the provinces of Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

In addition to heavy rain, BMKG also reminded the public to be aware of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in a number of areas, namely the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, West Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.

Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is also predicted to potentially occur in the provinces of North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, North Maluku, and West Papua.

There is also a warning about rain accompanied by impacts such as flooding that can hit the areas of West Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

Next, BMKG reminded the public about the potential for strong winds hitting a number of areas, namely the provinces of Aceh, South Sumatra, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
