Influencer Children's Mandatory Law Gets Paid When Appearing Now Applicable In US Illinois

JAKARTA - The first law to require influencers featuring their children get compensation, aka pay, is now in effect in Illinois, United States.

The law, which came into effect on July 1, amended the Child Labor Act in the state by including children displayed on the social media of their parents or caregivers.

More specifically, this regulation requires children aged 16 years and under to get compensation if within 30 days, they are involved in 30 percent of online videos or content where their parents are paid.

Reported by ABC News, Thursday, July 4, the person who made the video showing the child was responsible for setting aside dirty income in a trust account to be accepted by the child at the age of 18.

Illinois is the country's first state to enact the law.

Meanwhile, different versions are considered by other states, including Washington, Maryland, and California as influential industries, especially for the elderly, which continue to grow.

The types of "sharing" content that have emerged as a profitable online business over the past decade include everything from "family vlogs" documenting family daily lives to branded campaigns featuring children advertising certain clothing brands.

In today's world, influencers with more than 1 million followers can earn more than USD 20,000 for one sponsored post.

While less than 100,000 followers on social media platforms can still earn up to USD 4.000 for a sponsorship post, according toLAd Grange, two-child mother and co-founder of Oak Street Social, Chicago-based social media marketing company.

"Social media has become the main tool for introducing your brand to a wide audience", Grange said at the Good Morning America show.
