5 Cases Of Hasyim Asy'ari, Chairman Of The KPU Who Was Fired Due To Immoral Cases

Hasyim Asy'ari has been officially dismissed from his position as Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) by the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP). DKPP decided to impose a permanent dismissal sanction on Hasyim in the DKPP decision trial which was held at the DKPP office, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 3.

Hasyim Asy'ari's dismissal was the aftermath of a complaint against an immoral case he made against a woman from the overseas election committee (PPLN) on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Apparently this case is not the first time Hasyim Asy'ari has been sanctioned by DKPP. The following is a series of cases by Hasyim Asy'ari.

1. Allegations of sexual harassment by PPLN member Hasyim were reported to the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) on suspicion of sexual harassment of a committee of overseas organizers (PPLN) in the Netherlands. This allegation took place from August 2023 to March 2024.

According to the Legal Aid Consultation Institute (LKBH) of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (FHUI) and LBH APIK representing victims, the violation of the code of ethics committed by Hasyim Asy'ari includes approaches, seductions, and even immoral acts.

2. Private trip with the gold woman On August 18, 2022, Hasyim made a private trip to Yogyakarta with the Chairman of the Republic of One, Hasnaeni Moein, aka a gold woman. Then, in December 2022, the woman reported Hasyim to the DKPP on allegations of sexual harassment.

He stated that he had been harassed by Hasyim with the promise that his party would be ratified as a participant in the 2024 General Election. Although the allegations were not proven, the DKPP decided to impose the last tough warning sanction on Hasyim for violating the code of ethics.

3. The error in the quota of 30% of DKPP women's candidacy gave a stern warning to Hasyim Asy'ari regarding Article 8 paragraph (2) of KPU Regulation Number 10 of 2023 concerning the Lower Rounding of 30% of the Women's Candidacy in the DPR/DPRD Election. Six other KPU members also received warnings from the DKPP.

This made the KPU commissioner proven to have violated the code of ethics and code of conduct for election organizers because of the KPU's actions that were not careful and unprofessional. As a result, Hasyim was sanctioned with a stern warning on October 10, 2023.

4. Violation of ethics in the 2024 Presidential Election Hasyim Asy'ari was also involved in violating the code of ethics related to the registration process of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Hasyim Asy'ari together with other KPU members were reported in four cases which accused them of accepting registration before revising the General Elections Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 19 of 2023 after the Constitutional Court's decision. He was proven to have violated the code of ethics and code of conduct guidelines for election organizers and was given the last tough warning sanction.

5. Rental of private jets When carrying out their duties, Hasyim has received strong criticism regarding the use of private jets during the 2024 General Election. This accusation came from a member of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Riswan Tony, who accused Hasyim and the KPU commissioners of luxurious living and spree. However, this was denied by Hasyim, according to him, the private jet rental was carried out to monitor the logistics distribution of the 2024 General Election.
