PDIP Considers Carrying Kaesang In The 2024 Central Java Gubernatorial Election

The PDI-P (PDIP) is considering carrying the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who is also the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep in the 2024 Central Java Governor and Deputy Governor Election (Pilgub).

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the PDIP DPP Puan Maharani at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 2. "Yes, (Kaesang) is also one of the considerations," he said.

Puan also responded positively to the results of the latest survey by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) which placed Kaesang in second place with the most support in the simulation of the top of mind regarding the candidate for governor candidate for Central Java.

Puan even admitted that she did not question the name Kaesang who received higher support than the Chairman of the Central Java PDIP DPD Bambang Wuryanto alias Bambang Pacul in the survey. "It's okay, it's good Kaesang," he said.

Previously, LSI's latest survey, which was conducted on June 21-26, 2024, recorded a number of names in a top of mind simulation regarding the prospective governorship of Central Java. The survey was released on Sunday.

The survey results show that Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol Ahmad Luthfi is the name most referred to as 5.2%, Kaesang Pangarep 2.5%, Gerindra Party cadre who is also Prabowo Subianto's personal assistant, Sudaryono 2.1%.

In addition, PDI-P politician Bambang Wuryanto alias Bambang Pacul with 1.8%, Kendal Regent Dico Ganinduto with 1.7% and former Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Meimonen with 1.5%. Meanwhile, other candidates will get less than 1% of the choice from respondents. A total of 78.7% of respondents have not made a choice.

LSI then made a semi-open simulation by giving 21 options to respondents. As a result, Kaesang Pangarep was chosen by 15.9% at most, Inspector General of Police Ahmad Luthfi 12.9%, Abdul Wachid 7.8%, Raffi Ahmad 6.8%, Bambang Wuryanto 5.8%, Sudaryono 4.7%, Hendrar Prihadi 4.7% and other names received less than 4%. A total of 19.5% of respondents stated that they had not made a choice.
