Corruption In The Besitang-Langsa State Rugikan Line Rp1.15 Trillion, AGO Seizes Assets Of 7 Suspects

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) noted that state losses due to corruption in the construction of the Besitang-Langsa railway at the Medan Railway Engineering Center in the 2017-2023 period reached Rp1.15 trillion.

"Based on the report on the results of the audit of state losses conducted by BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency) dated May 13, 2024, the total state losses amounted to Rp1,157,087,853,322," said Head of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar in a statement, Tuesday, July 2, quoted by Antara.

He detailed that of the total state losses of Rp7.9 trillion, it came from the results of a review design or inspection work designed by the construction of the railway line.

The design is related to the construction of the Sigli-Bireuen railway line in Aceh, and Kuta Blang-Lhokseumawe - Langsa - Besitang in 2015 which connects a number of areas in Aceh to Langkat Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra).

Then amounting to Rp1,118,586,583,905 state losses for the work of reviewing the design of the construction of the railway line between Besitang - Langsa.

"Furthermore, it was recorded Rp30,599,832,322 losses to the state. The work of reviewing the design of the construction of the railway line between Besitang-Langsa," he explained.

The assets that have been confiscated by the investigative team include 36 plots of land and buildings belonging to seven suspects in Aceh, Medan, Jakarta, and Bogor with a total area of 1.6 hectares.

"The assets will be used for the purposes of proving the proceeds of crime and recovering state losses," said Harli, who was the Head of the Lubuk Pakam District Attorney's Office, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.

Investigators of the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) at the AGO, previously named seven suspects on suspicion of corruption in the procurement project for the construction of the Besitang - Langsa railway line.

The seven suspects, namely the initials FG, are suspected of having played a role in conditioning the work package for the Besitang-Langsa railway line construction project for the 2017-2019 period by the Medan Railway Engineering Center worth Rp1.3 trillion.

Then NSS and AGP as the power of budget user (KPA) of the project and former head of the Medan Railway Engineering Center.

Finally, AAS and HH as the commitment-making officials (PPK), RMY as the Chair of the 2017 Construction Procurement Working Group, and AG as the Director of PT DYG, planning consultant and job supervision consultant.

"The seven suspects were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 20 of 2021 concerning Amendments or Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code," said Harli, who is the son of Dolok Sinumbah, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra.
