KPK Handles 2 Corruption Cases In Jasindo, Some State Losses Reach Rp36 Billion

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating two corruption cases related to PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero) or Jasindo. One of them is said to have cost the state Rp36 billion.

"There are two cases of Jasindo," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, July 2.

Tessa said the first case was related to the payment of commissions by PT Jasindo in 2017-2020. "The tax on state losses is Rp36 billion," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Meanwhile, the second case is related to the payment of commissions for shipping insurance owned by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) from 2015 to 2020. The KPK said that the state lost Rp9 billion.

It has not been detailed about the suspects or the modus operandi that occurred in this case. Tessa only said that the anti-corruption commission was still working on its duties.

"Both of them are still in the process of being investigated," he said.

At the beginning of the year, the KPK revealed that it was investigating allegations of corruption related to commission payments for shipping insurance owned by PT Pelni (Persero) for the 2015-2020 fiscal year. The details of the service are marine hull insurance or insurance guarantees for sinking, overturning, burning from the frame and content of the ship as well as wreck removal and pollution insurance or insurance guarantees for the removal of sunken ships and marine pollution.
