PDIP Uncovers Reasons For Wanting To Carry Out Its Cadres In The Jakarta Regional Head Election: Very Influences The 2029 Legislative Elections

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Eriko Sotarduga revealed the reason his party wanted to carry its party cadres in the 2024 Pilkada, especially Jakarta.

According to Eriko, if PDIP cadres were promoted as governor or deputy governor candidates in the DKI Pilkada, then they would win the contestation, this would help PDIP win the election in 2029.

"Anyone who becomes an elected cadre, say in the assumption that we win, it is very important in winning the upcoming legislative and presidential elections. We must honestly admit that, that it is so influential," said Eriko at the PDIP DPP office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 25.

Eriko emphasized that the desire to present his cadres to be carried in the regional elections was not only felt by PDIP, but also all political parties that received seats in the 2024 Legislative Election.

"Is there a party that doesn't want its cadres to come forward? I don't think so. Everyone wants their cadres to come forward," said Eriko.

That's why, when responding to Anies Baswedan's duet with Sohibul Iman as Jakarta's cagub-cawagub by PKS, Eriko reminded that no political party can carry the Jakarta cagub-cawagub in the 2024 Pilkada alone without forming a coalition with other parties.

To be able to carry candidate pairs in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, parties or coalitions of parties require at least 22 seats in the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Meanwhile, PKS as the winner of the 2024 DKI DPRD legislative election received 18 seats. PDIP as the second largest party has 15 seats.

Therefore, as long as the candidate pair has not registered with the General Election Commission (KPU) in August, Eriko views that Anies-Sohibul's suspension is still limited to a discourse and can change. This depends on the results of the party coalition agreement which will be partnered with PKS.

"Once again with all humility, no party can nominate itself, including the PDI-P, including PKS," explained the member of the DPR RI.
