Usung Sohibul Iman In The Jakarta Pilkada, PKS Affirms Ready To Fight Anies

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) admitted that his party is ready to win the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council Mohamad Sohibul Iman as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta.

So, if Sohibul is officially nominated for the General Election Commission (KPU), the PKS ranks in Jakarta are ready to fight all of its competitors, including Anies Baswedan, who was previously one of the four names proposed by the DPW to the PKS DPP.

"We are ready (against Anies). Whatever the DPP decision, as long as it is still in accordance with the proposal of the DPW, the 4 people, yes we will fight all out to be able to win whoever is decided by the DPP," Aziz said when contacted, Monday, June 24.

The decision of the PKS DPP to carry Sohibul Iman in the Jakarta gubernatorial election is a follow-up to the DKI Jakarta PKS DPW proposal that offers a number of candidates.

Apart from Sohibul, DPW PKS DKI Jakarta also proposed the name Anies Baswedan to be promoted by PKS in the Jakarta Pilkada this year.

DPW PKS DKI previously also met with the former Governor of DKI Jakarta on Thursday, May 30. During the meeting, PKS had Anies for his willingness to be promoted as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada.

The DPP did not choose Anies to be promoted. However, the DKI Jakarta PKS DPW is still ready to win Sohibul Iman to contest the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"We appreciate it and we are also satisfied with this proposal because according to the proposed name it was also nominated for the governor in DKI Jakarta," explained Aziz.

Aziz assessed that Sohibul was a competent PKS cadre. While serving as PKS President for the 2015-2020 period, Sohibul was considered successful in increasing PKS votes in the legislative elections.

"Pak Sohibul is the previous PKS president who has been proven to increase the PKS vote nationally. We are sure he will be able to win the DKI Regional Election and make Jakarta better," said Aziz.
